LIMITED EDITION LUMI™ Hair Removal System

I was pretty skeptical, but I think LUMI has actually made a significant difference in my hair growth.

I'm fair skinned, over 40 and was tired of always shaving my underarms and bikini area. I have used the lumi twice and have seen less hair. I also used it on my daughter (18) and my husband. I think he has the best results so far.

Its easy to use, no pain, and i am very happy with it. Ive only used it for a month so i cannot attest to permanent removal, but so far it seems well worth it and I'm glad I purchased.

i bought this LUMI on dec 2012... but now april 2013, i just used about 2 flashes and its broken.. looking for warranty replacement immedietly.. thank u..

We were and are so sorry to hear that you experienced a problem with your lamp cartridge. Unfortunately cartridges (as disposable hygienic products) are not included in our 1-year warranty policy. In addition, since 5 months have passed since your purchase, it would be impossible for us to verify how and when the lamp cartridge stopped working.

I took it almost six months ago. Back then it seemed a good deal to me, but after using it for six months I realized that it works slowly. Initially One lamp(2000 flashes) costed me 69 and now its 99. I guess its a lot of price increase for a well established product.

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed by the price increase in our lamps, which is based primarily on increasing manufacturing and importation fees.

However, our lamp cartridges are still the least expensive per flash available on the market. With approximately 2,000 flashes per cartridge, a LUMI lamp costs just $0.04 per flash. Our closest competitor offers lamps at $0.06 per flash, a substantial difference when you consider the number of flashes used for all treatments.

works pretty good but replacement bulbs are too expensive. You will have to use 3-4 just to start thinning out. Would be nice if you could buy bulbs for 20 bucks or so.

I never actually used the product, as the machine would not even begin to function properly. The support staff was unable to diagnose and their best suggestion was to purchase a new machine since the machine was never registered via the product info card. Now, at the price point, this seems to be an unreasonable way to resolve a defect.
If the machine works - may be you will reap the benefits, but if it doesn't - beware of the customer service EvoDerma provides. You might be out a lot of money.

EvoDerma offers a 1-year limited warranty.

We are and were truly sorry to hear that you experienced a rare technical problem with your LUMI. However, once the 1-year limited warranty has expired, the costs of repairing LUMI are the customer's responsibility. Since you received your LUMI on November 10, 2011, the 1-year warranty expired on November 10, 2012.

As we discussed earlier, we are willing to provide a brand new machine at 50% off as an alternative option, but unfortunately evoDerma can't assume the costs of repair after the warranty expires. Please don't hesitate to contact us again by phone or at support@evoderma.com for more information.

I've been using the product for two months now. It arrived in a damaged box but the contents were intact and unscathed. I'm Asian, with black hair and fair-coloured skin. I've noticed that I'm getting lesser/thinner hair now, and I'm using the product according to the instructions. It's worth the money I've paid for. Only drawback is it can't be used on the face.

Bonjour l'appareil fonctionne bien et c'est une belle ligne de produit (la lotion est agréable et l'ensemble a l'air haut de gamme) mais ce n'est pas pour tout le monde. Je l'ai utilisé 5 fois sur les aisselles et 3 fois sur les jambes et le résultat est plutôt satisfaisant même si inégal. ( moins de poils sous les aisselles que les jambes par contre, j'ai noté une repousse plus lente sur les jambes ce qui devrait être bon signe).
Le plus est que j'apprécies à devoir me raser moins souvent par contre les bémols sont les suivants:
Le processus est plutôt lent (les résultats n'apparaissent pas tout de suite et je suis à ma 2ème lampe).
le produit est quand même cher (machine et lampes)

I have been using the evoderma LUMI for over two months now spent a bunch of money on it and have seen NO RESULTS. Not to mention i can't get a refund...........so pissed.

Thank you for taking the time to express your opinion, and we are sorry to hear that you have not obtained your expected results.

As previously discussed, the LUMI hair removal treatment provides progressive results that can take up to 3-4 treatments before noticeable results. This is due to the fact that LUMI is only effective on hair in the Anagen growth phase. It is for this reason, that we recommend new LUMI users repeat the treatment every 2 weeks for the first 1-2 months for optimal results.

Performing treatments in intervals less than 2 weeks tends to make the process seem ineffective, and only serves to reduce your resources. The process would seem ineffective because for a few of those treatments, there would not be enough hair follicles in the desired phase for the LUMI to act upon.

There are certain individual characteristics that can slow the process. For example, an individual with coarser hair should anticipate that their results may take longer on average to appear in comparison to someone with thin hair.

As expressed in our emails, we would be more than happy to try and help you improve your results. If you could provide more information about your personal characteristics, we would be better able to assist you.

I use lumi for 6 months and I must admit that the benefits are obvious.It's a matter of patience. My legs are smooth for 1 month and my underarms too. It takes some time to achieve satisfying results but it is definitively worth the efforts. I use the full power for 2 months only. thnx

It's around 5 months I use it on my chest and my shoulders to remove those pesky thick hair. I use it once every 2-3 weeks and I get good results. With this schedule I'll probably achieve lasting results in 3-4 months. I was annoyed by those ingrown hairs with waxing and as it is now thinner it never happened since then. Lumi is ok for me, nothing astonishing but I would recommend it because it's not that expensive compared to professional laser treatments and I can see valuable results.

I had laser treatments on my legs and underarms. Results are impressive with laser but it is quite expensive. We talk about those systems with my sister in law and I gave it a go. I now use lumi for 6 months and figured that the hair density decreased a lot those 3 last months and hair is way less coarse. It wad not that obvious the first three months but I am pleased with the overall results since it's significant. It does work well for me and it is fast safe and cheaper than in my nearby spa. Plus, you can do it right from home, out of hours.

I like this. The machine is beautiful and after 2 month of treatments I can see some improvements. I am a brunette with pale skin and I can see results on my legs and bikini where the hair grows thiner with lower density. I keep on using lumi and hope I will achieve lasting results in a close future, but that's really promising.

I am dark skin tone and thick hair. I went to the institute several times, but for the price I paid I expected better results. I decided to switch to a home based device that would fit better my expectations since I'm shy and don't like the atmosphere of spas. I use lumi for 5 months now on a weekly basis and it's working slowly but surely. My hair is coarse and dark and the best results are on the bikini area and my upper legs. I really advice to use the lotion because it helps soothing the heat of your skin after the treatment. To my opinion, I would recommend this product, even though it's a bit pricey for the bulbs. Don't expect overnight results with that, it's working but it's not a magic wand.

My skin is very light and my hair is brown and medium coarse. I use this device for almost 7 months with good results. I really wanted a substitute for my expensive spa treatments and especially for my armpits and bikini line where the hair grows faster. After 5-6 treatments only half the hair grew back. And since my 8th session the results are good. Regrowth is slower and thinner especially on underarms. I was fed up rashes with razors, I am satisfied with light flashes. I think in few months I'll get what I am looking for, not shaving anymore. Don't expect instant results, it takes time.Don't give up :)

Je suis plutot contente du resultat jusqu'ici, meme si il reste une bonne partie des poils, apres 8 mois de traitement ils sont vraiment plus fins beaucoup moins nombreux (surtout apres rasage).
Par contre, je ne recommande plus cet appareil à mes amis depuis que le prix des lampes a augmenté, $129 et 129€ en France (où je retroune bientot)... je ne suis plus tres sure de l'investissement à long terme...

Concernant le prix des lampes en europe, nous prenons votre remarque en considération.
Cependant n'oubliez pas de regarder le prix des autres lampes des machines du même type.
Nos concurrents principaux proposent pour 84€ sans frais de port, trois lampes de 700 flashes chacune. Cela fait 2100 flashs contre 4000 flashs pour notre lot de 2 lampes à 129€. A 0,04€ le flash contre 0,032€ le flash pour LUMI, nous restons 20% moins chers que la concurrence. Nous insistons aussi sur le fait que la technologie utilisée par LUMI permet à ces 4000 flashs d'être d'une intensité et d'une qualité parfaitement constante tout au long de la vie des lampes.Également, notez que les frais d'expédition sont compris dans le prix.

Good results on my legs. I am definitely not a hairy girl but my skin is damn sensitive and shaving irritates my skin. Flashes are fairly gentle and after 1 or 2 hours of moderate redness my skin comes back to normal. Lumi is pretty efficient and after 4 sessions I can see my hair growing thinner. I cannot afford thousands quid of institute sessions, it's a nice alternative. I am better off using lumi.

Je fait de la natation en compétition et j'en avais assez de la cire. Je suis tombé sur une pub pour ce genre d'appareil ipl il y a 4-5 mois et j'ai décidé de donner sa chance au lumi pour son prix. Je l'ai utilisé sur mon torse, mon ventre et sur mes jambe et contrairement à la cire, ça n'est pas douloureux. Le premier mois j'ai constaté que les poils qui repoussaient étaient plus fins et plus éparses. Apres 2 mois les poils repoussaient moins, et s'affinaient encore. Et maintenant après 4 mois d'utilisation le résultat est évident. Avant j'épilait à la cire et ca repoussait à 10-15 jours, maintenant ca repousse à peine et plus fin après 1 mois je dirais. Je vais pas arrêter j'aimerai que ca ne repousse plus jamais et m'en débarasser une fois pour toute. C'est en bonne voie.

Je suis assez satisfaite de mon LUMI même si les lampes sont dispendieuses. J'ai fait 6 traitements à date sur le bas des jambes et les aisselles et j'ai remarqué au bout de 2 mois que les poils semblent moins noirs et plus fins (on dirait qu'il y en a moins aussi mais je ne suis pas sure du pourcentage). Pour ceux que ça intéresse, j'ai utilisé 2 lampes et j'entame la troisième en ce moment (à quand les promos dessus, evoDerma????). J'ai du appelé le service a la clientèle pour savoir comment bipasser le système pour obtenir le niveau le plus fort parce que le niveau 1 est trop faible a mon avis (les 2 premiers traitements on dirait que rien ne se passait). Je donne 3.5 ou 4 sur 5 a cause du prix des lampes.

I have had salon IPL treatments with success. I have now had 3 sessions with my Lumi on my hands, fingers, toes, bikini line & armpits.

I have yet to see any reduction in hair at all, however I hope that PERHAPS, with another 3-5 sessions, I may get some hair reduction.

Of course, I don't expect it to be anywhere near salon effectiveness. The machine just doesn't have the power for that, and they don't advertise that. But I did expect at least VISIBLE results after 3 full sessions.

Regrettably, my 30 day warranty period has expired so I can't return it, so I just have to hope with many more sessions, I might get some results.

$350 + tax is a fair amount of money to spend for absolutely no results to date. I will re-post another review after 3 more sessions.

Most IPL users see results after the first 3 treatments although, IPL doesn’t work on everyone (whether it be professional or home-based systems). People who have had professional laser or IPL in the past will notice that the results of home-based systems are similar, but not the same. The skin needs time to adjust to the lower intensity levels of a home-based system, before it can start being affected by it. Just as with many other medications, beauty products and cosmetic procedures, IPL doesn’t always deliver results. Some other factors which may be affecting the outcome of your treatment:

- Hormones
- Medications
- Skin-type & hair color variations
- Light pulses are not intense enough to deliver results

If you have already had laser treatments in the salon, you will know that these treatments are not 100% permanent. No IPL or laser hair removal treatment should be considered permanent in removing hair, whether it is done professionally or at home. Lasers and IPL treatments offer permanent hair reduction, with different rates of success depending on the system. There is a trade off between the safety and efficiency of a home based system versus in office treatments. When used properly and with a longer time frame, you can expect to reach high percentages (50-70%) of hair reduction with LUMI. We currently have real satisfied customers who have happily traded their expensive salon appointments for LUMI.

I bought a LUMI about 3 months ago. I was hesitating in the beginning and thought that the IPL flashes would hurt and or my skin would burn after. I decided to take a chance and ordered the machine. The flashes surprisingly did not hurt at all, I felt warm and tiny pinching after each flash. I did the bikini and armpit areas and it took me about 5 minutes per session. After the session you feel as if the skin was a tiny bit sunburnt and that goes away fully. The machine is very straightforward to use. I bought a generic aloe cream and was using it on my legs (I just started doing legs) and it works almost as good as the cream that the machine comes with but is much cheaper than reordering the cream (Luminante whatever they call it).

So my overall ratings:
Ease of use: 5/5

Support: 5/5 I called them once to check for my tracking number, but then I found it in the email... never needed to call again though, it was self-explanatory

Effectiveness: 5/5 After 6 sessions on my bikini area and underarms most of the hair is completely gone, the growth cycle of the remaining little hairs have slowed down enormously and I'm waiting to do a couple more sessions to get all of it out. Now started on my legs and am very excited about it.

Recommend to a friend? Hell ya!!

I got the LUMI about 3 months ago. I had been doing professional IPL hair removal on my lower legs and bikini previously (I had a lot of ingrown hairs) and decided to try a home-based device for a change ….Don't get me wrong, I am very satisfied of the results I got from my salon so far but budgetwise it made sense: even with the initial $500 pricetag (I know, sounds expensive but for a salon treatment, it costs +$99 per 1/2 leg per session, do the math yourselves) + all the extra costs of lamps, I calculated that if this machine worked, well then it would be worth it (figure if it didn't work i could always use their 30 days guarantee). The reason why I picked this brand instead of the others is because of the manufacturer's claim of being faster and having the biggest treatment area (although this last point is debatable since **** is about the same size) and that the results are comparable to salon treatments (again, highly debatable… results were decent but in no way, as efficient as salons results…. more about that later) I got the LUMI to do mostly touch-up on my legs. I also have started using it on my upper legs for about 4 treatments and armpits twice. My hunch is that I will need more sessions than at the salon to reach the same results. At first, it felt like a toy (seriously no pain at all or very minimal warmth sensation at most and this is at the highest setting, nothing compared to the heat and pinching of salon treatments) so I was not sure it was working but i've shed hairs on the treated areas about 1-2 weeks after each treatment….. So the verdict? I am keeping it. It seems to work fine and I like doing my legs at home when i feel like it. But then again I have realistic expectations, I am not waiting for some miracle from a device with what, 1/5? 1/6? of the power of commercial machines? It's good for touch-up and it is working on the areas i've just treated. This is a good alternative for me (It does help that I am the "right candidate" aka pale skin with dark brown hair).
Attention: if you think that this device will remove all your hair forever, think again. (Unless you go through electrolysis: think needles and painful operations). It is not as good as professional/ commercial hair removal machines but if you are tight on budget and want reasonably good hair reduction, this is a sensible alternative to shaving every other day.
I am giving this product between a 3 star 1/2 and a 4 stars.

I've been looking at a couple of laser and IPL machines for home-use and to be honest, I was getting cold feet about getting one. In the end, after debating for a while, my final choice was between the **** and the evoDerma device. In the end, the good feedback I got from my friend made me buy the LUMI instead. Like the company claims, it is pretty easy to use (just turn it on, select your level, press the start button and flash the skin) and the treatment area is fairly big compare to the others devices I checked. I had 3 treatments so far on my legs and I can already see some visible results and my skin feels softer. The only thing that is a bit annoying is the sound it makes when it is on (sounds like a blow-dryer specially when it is in treatment mode) although it seems normal for these kind of machines….But overall, I am satisfied with the results.

I’ve been using LUMI now for about 10 weeks. Already I have started seeing a difference, the hair left seem thinner and there are less of them (I had about 4 treatments). I can't wait until the day there will be no more shaving or waxing ! The way this is going, in 6 months time I should be hair free (fingers crossed). I used the device on my legs and armpits. I plan to start on the bikini line soon. I will let you know in another couple of months what would be my final verdict on this machine.
